Summer Reading List

With summer's long hot days right around the corner, I took the liberty of checking out the New York Times best seller list to stock up on my reads for the summer. I've also added a few of my own personal favorties to the list as well as a series. So in no particular order, here they are!

Mortal Instruments Series
Yes, I know there are alot of books in this series (6 all together), but I deffinately recommend checking them out. When 15 year old Clary witnesses a murder that seems to invisible to everybody around her, she uncovers a world full of secrets and war, and it is her job to find out why this secret world is attacking an ordinary human like herself. With the first movie hitting theaters in August 2013, you deffinately want to get a head start on the book.

Safe Haven
So I have this new thing where i can't see a movie unless I have read the book first. Seeing that so many movies nowadays are based on books, I'm getting extremely behind on my movie watching. I've been dying to see this movie, but have reluctantly refrained until I finish the book.

The Heart and the Fist
Like many young idealists, Eric Greitens wanted to make a difference, so he traveled to the world’s trouble spots to work in refugee camps and serve the sick and the poor. Yet when innocent civilians were threatened with harm, there was nothing he could do but step in afterward and try to ease the suffering. In studying humanitarianism, he realized a fundamental truth: when an army invades, the weak need protection. So he joined the Navy SEALs and became one of the world’s elite warriors.

Sarah's Key
Paris, July 1942: Sarah, a ten year-old girl, is brutally arrested with her family by the French police in the Vel’ d’Hiv’ roundup, but not before she locks her younger brother in a cupboard in the family's apartment, thinking that she will be back within a few hours.

Paris, May 2002: On Vel’ d’Hiv’s 60th anniversary, journalist Julia Jarmond is asked to write an article about this black day in France's past. Through her contemporary investigation, she stumbles onto a trail of long-hidden family secrets that connect her to Sarah. Julia finds herself compelled to retrace the girl's ordeal, from that terrible term in the Vel d'Hiv', to the camps, and beyond. As she probes into Sarah's past, she begins to question her own place in France, and to reevaluate her marriage and her life.

Yes, I realize that this book came out a long time ago, but I never had any interest in Lauren Conrad until i found her book for 99 cents at a thrift shop (score!!) And on that note: if you ever are looking for some new books to read but are on a tight budget (like me) go to a local thrift shop. I gurantee there will be shelves full of books that are right in your price limit.

Los Angeles is all about the sweet life: hot clubs, cute guys, designer . . . everything. Nineteen-year-old Jane Roberts can't wait to start living it up. She may be in L.A. for an internship, but Jane plans to play as hard as she works, and has enlisted her BFF Scarlett to join in the fun. When Jane and Scarlett are approached by a producer who wants them to be on his new series, a "reality version of Sex and the City," they can hardly believe their luck. Their own show? Yes, please! Soon Jane is TV's hottest star. Fame brings more than she ever imagined possible for a girl from Santa Barbara—free designer clothes, the choicest tables at the most exclusive clubs, invites to Hollywood premieres—and she's lapping up the VIP treatment with her eclectic entourage of new pals. But those same friends who are always up for a wild night are also out for a piece of Jane's spotlight.
